Music and Kolams are two interesting things that are associated with the month of Margazhi! Recently, BIG FM along with Yokibu organized Kolam contest on the theme ‘Music’ for school children in the city. Chlidren from 12 schools along with their parents participated in the event and came out with beautiful designs.
First and Second prizes were given to the best entries from each school and in the grand finals, two best entries among all the participating schools were selected. The prizes were given away by television personality Brinda Das. A rolling trophy was given to a school that maximum participated and showed involvement in this contest. This trophy was taken away by TI Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Amattur. Individual best works were given to Niveditha of TI Matric School followed by Nandhini of Velakanni Matric and Aswin Vijay of Alpha Matric School.
Ms. Sindhu Vijayakumar, Radio Operations Head, BIG FM said, “We received an overwhelming response from the schools and this was an opportunity for children to team up with their parents and showcase their creativity probably learnt from their elders. Kolams are put not just for decoration but to bring prosperity and positive energy to the family. Times may have changed but out traditions will never change. We are happy that we were able to encourage such kind of traditional activities and we promise to do it bigger and better the next year.”
