Corporates involving in CSR activities are increasing day by day for the simple fact that they are becoming more and more socially conscious. Its necessary that they are recognized and appreciated for what they contribute for the society. Recently Britannia Company recieved CSR award from the Rotary club. Here's a small briefing about the event!!
“Eat Healthy, Think Better”- We are so much used to this phrase! Know why? Well, it’s the tag line for Britannia food products and the reason why we are so used to it it’s because we all grew up with Britannia products. It’s a 95 year old company that was started in 1892 with an investment of Rs. 295 and now, the company is worth Rs.3500 crores! Britannia Company has supplied biscuits to the armed forces who took part in World War II. The Rotary Club of Madras Conferred its prestigious “Corporate Social Responsibility” award on Britannia Industries Ltd for the exemplary services it has done for almost 100 years to the society.
This award is given in recognition of the good work done by the Britannia Nutrition Foundation, which is an independent, non-profit body dedicated for addressing the malady of child malnutrition in India. Ms. Vinita Bali, Managing Director of Britannia Industries accepted the award on behalf of the company and said, “I am delighted to receive this award and have come in person to accept this on behalf of my co workers.”
In order that the award serves as a catalyst for a lasting service initiative, the Rotary club launched the “Rotary Club of Madras-Britannia Nutrition Initiative” on the occasion. This initiative will aim at reducing the incidence of anemia in school going children. Britannia readily agreed to partner with the Club for this good cause and said that it will provide specially made iron fortified biscuits free of charge for the first phase of its initiative. “Stronger children with sharper minds” will be the slogan for their initiative and never the less, the club theme for the year 2010-2011 is “Participate, ENERGISE, Transform”!
